Lady Shamrocks Win Fourth in Regionals

On October 12-14, 2012, the women travelled down to Fort Lauderdale, FL to play in the D2 South Regionals. Savannah took the field at 10am during torrential downpour and high winds to play Jacksonville Sinners. The terrible weather did not stop the Savannah women. They played a very tough game, and in the end beat Jacksonville 10-5. After a short break Savannah was back on the field against a fresh Knoxville team. Beat up and tired from the earlier win against Jacksonville, Savannah women fought hard against Knoxville, but could not come up with a win. This put Savannah in the 3rd/4th place bracket for Sunday morning against the Memphis women. Once again the weather was not cooperating as the Shamrocks took the field in heavy wind and rain. Although the Memphis women are a much larger team, Savannah was not intimidated. The forwards were on fire as they made tackle after tackle and won many of the rucks. The Shamrocks were able to hold Memphis to only two tries, by demonstrating excellent defense. The Shamrocks were only able to score one try in the second half. They lost a tough match 12-7, which put them in fourth place. Great Job Lady Shamrocks!
